Projection: need to automatically qualify

Loyola Maryland’s resume is built around conference victories and a neutral-site win over Stonehill, but those bright spots are overwhelmed by a brutal road rout at Kentucky and a string of nonconference and true road setbacks at Duquesne, Fairfield, Hampton, VMI and George Mason that undercut any at-large argument. A tight home loss to Colgate and the lack of a signature win against a notable opponent leave the Patriot League tournament as the clearest path back to the field, because the remaining slate offers mostly manageable home dates against Holy Cross, Army and Navy while a trip to Colgate stands out as the lone realistic chance to add a resume-changing road victory. Until Loyola can produce a defining road or neutral result the practical expectation is that winning the league’s automatic berth is the safest route.
